In Puttur city, located in the Dakshina Kannada district, authorities have apprehended two individuals for allegedly harassing a minor boy and girl, and for making communal remarks in a video that was subsequently shared on social media.
According to police reports released on Monday, the arrests were made following a complaint lodged by the father of the minor boy.
The incident occurred on July 5, when the complainant's son and a girl he knew were sitting near Beermale Hill in the Puttur Kasaba village, at which point the accused approached them.
The complainant stated that the accused verbally abused the minors and threatened to record a video of them to post online.
Police confirmed that the entire incident was filmed in front of bystanders, and the video was later disseminated on WhatsApp and Instagram, containing communal comments.
Following an investigation, the suspects, identified as Purushottam (43) and Ramachandra (38), were arrested. Relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code have been invoked in this case.
